Write the essentials first
List meal times and portions, familiar walking equipment, toilet habits and where your pet settles to sleep. Mention preferences that make a difference: a quiet corner, a favourite toy or a particular way of being approached.
Make the handoff practical
Label the items you leave and explain how to use any unfamiliar equipment. Share private access details directly with the caregiver, not in a public profile. Agree an owner contact and a backup person who can help if you are unreachable.
Keep changes easy to find
Send one updated set of notes rather than several conflicting versions. Agree how often you would like updates and where you will exchange them. For health needs, share the veterinarian’s existing instructions and confirm that the caregiver is able to follow them.
